Raining
My house toad

Home and food

You can just see my arrow in the photo above - pointing to my house.

My house toad was waiting for me when I returned at the end of my day – he likes to eat the mosquitoes and flies but is very shy, and disappeared into one of the holes in the rectangular dip in the entrance area to the house, after a moment, I was too slow with my camera. Then I do my sweep of the house for cockroaches, and dispose of them, fortunately only a couple each night. With my airconditioner and de-humidifier I didn’t even hear the rain!

My typical dinner - when eating and drinking I am using the chopsticks

My typical meal

What I thought may have been big floppy Chinese mushrooms turned out to be seaweed… the wide ribbon type that is brown in the UK, when cooked and chopped into pieces it is a bit slimy but good to eat! It is a constant surprise that what you think something is, it is not…Also here people drink out of bowls rather than cups. I am trying to fit in, and have bought myself a stainless steel bowl (just like the ones in the canteen) to drink water from in the studio. I have a water cooler that does hot and cold water. Discovered the hot by putting my finger under it! (can’t read any of the Chinese symbols). There are tofu, beansprouts and seaweed here, with a few other things. Always a surprise!

Monday 13 August-lunch

Today's lunch was - clockwise, and I may be wrong in some things but will do my best... lotus and beans, not sure what vegetable the squares are, tofu and maybe spring onions in a soy sauce, dragon fruit (I like that), rice, more tofu and my greens! (The lady gave me more tofu because I said no to the fish and meat part of the meal). I enjoyed it!

Water in the bowl of course, although I could have had soup (which they serve with every of the three meals).
