Wildlife

Wildlife...

It’s Sunday (12 August 2012) and the canteen was quieter, but there were still a few people there when I stopped by for breakfast at 8.30, then into the workshop. There are cleaners here doing their major clean today. It is kept extremely clean, and always spotless everywhere. They put the air conditioner on for me before I arrive. So does the cleaner in my house. They are very thoughtful yet the heat doesn’t bother me too much as long as I don’t see myself (I probably always look hot, overheated).

Here are a few pictures of the wildlife in and around my house. The toads stand very still until I leave the room, then run! The centipedes have one speed slow and curled.

Cockroach   Centipede

Cockroach, and centipede

Here is the cockroach, well one of them… I thought I was doing really well, and found very few in my house, never any in my bedroom, until I let down the blind last night and found one scurrying under the pelmet. I just left it there and got into my mosquito net, and tried to forget about it!

There is a very beautiful lotus field, delicate pink and white flowers with such large leaves and it changes every day, as more blossom and others fade.

Finally - the chicken. There are a few running around near the canteen. This one is showing the famous Chinese chicken foot which is a delicacy I think.

So really, not anything too different from home, just slightly larger centipedes, and slightly smaller toads!
